Engagement Parties

You're engaged, and what better way to introduce your fiance or fiance to your families and friends before the wedding arrives than with an engagement party.

It's a good idea to have an idea of who you want to invite to your wedding before you start sending out your engagement party invites, however family is always priority. Some people like to put attention into the invites, while for others it's a more casual affair.

Typically engagement parties are hosted by the bride's parents. This is no rule however and many engagement parties are also hosted by the groom's parents, other family members and friends as well. Your engagement party can be held wherever you like. To remove some of the stress, you may like to hire a function room for your engagement party. You can also host it at your home, especially if it has room for large numbers of people.

Engagement parties can both be formal or casual affairs. You may like to host a cocktail party complete with canaps and champagne, or perhaps a relaxed barbeque in your backyard fits the bill for you and your partner.

To give yourself plenty of time to prepare for your wedding, you may like to hold your engagement party a few months before the big day. This also gives family and friends who might not know your partner well the time to get to know each other.
